Recently, as part of the “Body Liberation for Gender Equality” project, we gathered at the Riga Youth Centre "Kaņieris" with youth workers, educators and activists to explore and test the materials developed for working with young women.
The materials introduce the principles of body liberation and show how they can be used as practical tools to support empowerment and advocacy in youth work. Together, we explored questions such as: How can we build a stronger connection with our bodies? How can we find the courage to stand up against body shaming? And how can we feel less alone in this journey? To provide perspective, we shared information on systemic weight stigma too.
A big thank you to everyone who took part. The workshop reminded us how important it is to create space for these conversations and continue working on these issues. Over the coming months, we will use the feedback and insights from this session to organize training for young women. Stay tuned for updates!
