Explore and implement body liberation principles as a tool for enhancing gender equality and empowerment among young European women.

Goal
Objectives
  • Increase awareness on weight stigma and its intersection with gender inequality in youth work and broader society.

  • Empower young women by providing knowledge and tangible tools to navigate pressures of body image, body shaming and

    weight-based discrimination.

  • Equip youth workers with practical tools to support young women facing body image issues and weight stigma in different situations.

  • Promote systemic change by fostering dialogue among educators and youth organizations to integrate body liberation as a tool into gender equality initiatives.

  • Ensure sustainability by creating accessible educational materials and an open-source knowledge base for long-term use beyond the project’s duration.

Target groups
  • Young European women aged 18-35

  • youth workers, facilitators, youth leaders, activists and all kinds of educators working with and for the young people and especially young women.

  • Secondary target group: NGOs in general. Subsequently - youth and society in general.

About the challenges faced by young women regarding accepted beauty ideals and the consequences of weight stigma

Educational module

Development and testing of training course content with educators and young women on topics such as body autonomy, weight stigma, etc.

Publicity activities

Online campaign, podcast, and blog articles. Also, events for presenting the results in Latvia, Cyprus, and Czechia.

Easily accessible materials for self-help and community support aimed at reducing the negative impact of weight stigma in daily life
